The film, which has been described by the director as 'something a little weirder' than his last film The Witch, made its debut earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival.
Speaking to The Interview Magazine about working with William for the disturbing and dark film, Robert shared his admiration for the American star's abilities as an actor.

Speaking to William about his craft as an actor Robert said: 'My idea for The Lighthouse was that if I don’t really understand this script on a cerebral level, then I’ll try to understand it on a physical level.
'But I must say that I’ve never seen someone with such a supernatural level of energy as you. I remember watching you and being, like,''How are you doing this?'''
William responded: 'I’ll take that as flattery, but I’ll also return it by saying that your approach was fierce. You were a warrior.'
In June, Robert - who rose to fame in his role as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire - was confirmed as the lead in the upcoming Batman trilogy.
The actor was initially confirmed as a contender for the role alongside Nicholas Hoult, 29, before landing the prestigious role.

Speaking about his latest endeavor director Matt Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter back in January that his idea for the series of films was 'very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale.
He said: 'It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode that we’ve seen in the films.
'The comics have a history of that. [Bruce Wayne] is supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been.'
